Babolat Hurricane Feel 16G Tennis String Review

Babolat Hurricane Feel 16G Tennis Strings

INTRODUCTION: Babolat Hurricane Feel 16G Strings were introduced by Babolat in May 2010. An attractive blue color, Hurricane Feel is described by Babolat as "offering excellent feel and touch in a durable monofilament co-polyester." Accordingly, I expected a super soft, forgiving string that offered stacks of feel, touch and control. But is that what I got?

PLAYABILITY: From the first ball, Babolat Hurricane Feel 16G Strings surprised me with their crisp feel. My first impression was that they string more tightly than you expect. Although they don't feel anywhere near as soft or forgiving as Babolat Revenge 16G Strings or Babolat RPM Blast, once I got past my initial surprise, they really grew on me.

Because of the string's crispness, I definitely found that off-center shots didn't behave very well. However, if I middled the ball, the result was great. Like playing with a real player's racquet, playing with Babolat Hurricane Feel Strings rewards shots to the extent that you find the sweet spot. Conversely, the more off-center your shots are, the less you are rewarded. In effect, I found that the strings reduce the racquet's sweet spot, but reward you well if you're hitting a clean ball.

To get the most out of this string, you really need to know your way around a court. It is for advanced players who are looking for a crisp, responsive poly that's very durable and retains tension well. I would like to stress that, aside from the advanced category of player, it does not offer touch, control or feel as its name suggests. For intermediate and advanced players who are looking for a softer, more forgiving poly, Babolat RPM Blast, Babolat Revenge and Gamma Zo Tour are three polys that I unhesitatingly recommend.
