POWERBRIDGE: The secret of POWERBRIDGE lies in two components. The first is then tried-and-tested DNX technology, which is now being used in the bridge of the racket head for the first time. Second, the designers at Völkl Tennis have succeeded in reducing the cross-section of the bridge without losing stability. The quantity of expansion resin which functions as the binding agent to bond the yoke to the rest of the frame to form a unit remains completely unchanged here. The only difference is the higher compaction of the matrix. In conjunction withthe power features of DNX this compression produces an enormously solid composite material which optimises the heart of the racket, thereby investing the entire racket with more power.

WHAT IS DNX?

DNX is the purest form of graphite known to exist. Significantly lighter than other carbon fibers and most important, it is 25-times stronger! With these unique properties DNX is destine for future use in the space and aeronautics industries once the material becomes more available and cost-effective for mass-production in these areas. DNX is uniquely special due to its being a perfect microscopic ‘tubular’ construction – allowing maximum strength at all angles of applied force – all the while doing so with minimal material usage.

Upon ball impact the frame deforms – lending to a high loss of energy – on average 20%. In order to achieve the return acceleration needed, you must swing harder and try to be more precise.

The result: less precision and accuracy, plus a loss of power and control.

Due to the use of DNX, the frame remains stable in the player’s hand on every stroke. There is minimal distortion in the key-areas of the racquet frame. This results in less energy loss and hence into more POWER! CATAPULT TECHNOLOGY

With the catapult-effect the ball is accelerated with 30 % more power and 30 % more control – even for those balls hit outside the sweet-spot. Found on the DNX 2 ATTIVA, DNX 3, and DNX 4, the catapult-effect springs allow for a deeper string-bed pocket upon impact for greater control. At the precise moment the ball leaves the strings, the springs return to their original state – catapulting the ball across the net with added power.

Pre-loading – activation of the Catapult springs
The Catapult springs are positioned on top of the frame, unattached, and are pre-tensioned while the racquet is being strung. The strings activate the springs.

Control-phase – ball entry phase
When the ball strikes, the Catapult springs give and tension themselves. As a result the strings form a deeper pocket and so the ball entry phase is lengthened. The ball can be noticeably better controlled.

Power-Phase – ball exit phase
At maximum tension the Catapult springs reset themselves with considerable force, accelerating the resetting of the string bed. As a result of this catapult effect the ball acceleration is increased and the ball exit phase is significantly reduced.
